Did BET Get It Totally Wrong?

After the 2011 BET Awards nominations were announced a few artists were not too happy especially Trina. The nominees for the best female hip-hop artist category were Nicki Minaj, Diamond, Lola Munroe, And Cymphonique (Master P’s daughter). Even two of the nominees for best female hip hop artists Diamond and Nicki Minaj were shocked about the nominations.
Diamond gave Trina a shoutout and admitted confusion over the nominations (“I don’t know what happened with the nominations but she raised all of us”) and Nicki Minaj commented on Trina’s absence from the ballot saying that (“I didn’t know it was April Fools”) when Nicki looked at the nominations waiting for Trina’s name to appear before she took it serious.
It was said that the whole thing was based on the lack of recognition and her achievements in 2010. Reason for her not making the nominations was because she didn’t submit a video that was during the eligibility period. Stephen Hill went in depth about the eligibility. He said that she was eligible for a nomination but she didn’t submit a video in time. He also stated he probably would’ve been a little side-eye about the whole situation also. Trina tweeted her apology saying “I would like to apologize to the BET network and @StephenHill for speaking out how I felt. I spoke with Stephen today”.
