Christine Sinclair, the captain of the Canadian women's soccer team broke her nose in Canada's opening match of the FIFA Women's World Cup! They were playing Germany, and they ended up dropping the match despite Sinclair's amazing "bend it like Beckham" style goal. The crazy part is that after she broke her nose she convinced the medical staff to let her stay in the game and keep playing!
Now if you've never broken your nose, then you might not understand how painful it is! It makes it almost impossible to see straight, and every time you look down your whole face throbs. I can't imagine how painful it would be to run and be jostled around with a freshly broken bone in the middle of your face. Hats off to our Canadian hero for showing to boys what it REALLY means to be tough! Now just imagine how much a hero Sinclair would be if Canada had won the game!
